Broadcasting with a Scarlett 2i2

Thomas J. West Jun 21, 2017 12:55PM EDT

I am test broadcasting with a Scarlett 2i2 USB input device on a MacBook Pro. The sound settings on the Mac are correct - I am getting sound input from both line 1 (mic) and line 2 (iPad), but the Concert Window broadcast is only transmitting the audio from line 1. Any suggestions?

I figured it out! I had to open up GarageBand and set the incoming audio to stereo.

Hi Thomas,

Make sure the Scarlett is selected in your system preferences as your audio input source. Also make sure it is selected in your CW broadcaster.

I take it back - that only worked for Garage Band. How do I set the browser to receive stereo channels?

Hi Thomas,

I understand what you are trying to do now. The built in broadcaster is not designed to broadcast in stereo since most people simple use the built in mic or send a mono signal from a board. In order to broadcast in stereo you should use a laptop/desktop based software program like Open Broadcaster Software or Flash Media Live Encoder to broadcast the stream. Those give full control over video and audio settings and are great for anyone who is using good mics, good cameras, etc. I hope this helps.

Excellent. That's what I needed to know. Thanks!
