can't reset password

So I go to sign up for a new account only to find out that "This email is already taken, try logging in instead" and so I go do that, but then it doesn't recognize my password, so I click on "reset password" and I get message saying "we cannot find this email in our database" even though two minutes ago it could because it had already been taken. What's going on?
