So we've found optimal quality settings for our stream that look fine on a desktop computer, even one with only a 20mbps download connection. However, when we view the stream on a phone (Samsung Galaxy S7), it stutters to the point of being unwatchable, which is a dramatic change from what we're seeing on the laptop.
I know that Concert Window dynamically scales the bitrate for mobile devices, but would you be able to tell me by how much? Should we lower our broadcast bitrate? Currently it's at 4500kbps, with 0 buffer. Stream is 1080p, 29.97 fps. Even on a 4G LTE+ phone, we're still seeing it stutter. Download on the phone is about 30mpbs.
hi Jonathan, I’d say 4500 kbps is way too high. I wouldn’t broadcast any higher than 1000 kbps. The mobile bitrate is scaled down to about 300 kbps. The issue with broadcasting at 4500 kbps is that many viewers with slower connections won’t be able to watch at all, and it sounds like there might be issues converting to the mobile stream from that bitrate. Also make sure you’re using H.264.
