How do I read the chat on the broadcaster?

Phoenix J Sep 28, 2015 02:36PM EDT

I used my new iPad mini 4 for broadcasting today. I was told there was a button to tap on the app to open up the chat, but none of the icons on my screen appear to do that... I was gutted I couldn't interact with my audience. So I tried to read the chat on my iPhone as a viewer, but couldn't either. :( I did not have my laptop.

Chats will automatically appear onscreen while you broadcast. Do you know if anyone submitted chats during your show?

The messages didn't automatically appear on my screen. Yes, many submitted chats. A couple passed on messages via my facebook which I could read on my iPhone. I was able to read the chats on my dashboard only after the show ended and I read it on my iPad and PC. They are there.

Hmm, that’s strange.. they should automatically appear.

One workaround is that you could have your laptop or iPad open to your channel page while you broadcast, and use that to read the chats.

What a shame I won't be able to use my iPad to broadcast with if I need it to read chats. I won't have my laptop with me for spontaneous riverside or garden gig. Besides I'd be using manycam instead of broadcaster.

When you say auto appear, where on the screen? I see myself on the opened app and the few icons on the left side. The chat should be scrolling up or down the middle of the screen? In large type? It didn't do that. Maybe it was a glitch then. And you've just tested it and you can read chat?

Have you updated to the latest version of the app? Try going to the App Store and updating the Concert Window Broadcaster app to the latest version. That might be the issue.

Yes, when you broadcast and people are chatting, you should see the chats scroll up along the right side of the screen. You can test it by 1) Updating app if not already, 2) Broadcasting via iPad, 3) Typing in a chat from your PC — you should see it appear.

Man I just had the same problem. I did a whole 45 minute concert with no interaction with the audience at all. At once it said there were 6 people watching but I couldn't learn anything about them. I was using the iPad because it broadcasts much more reliably than my PC which locks up all the time on Concert Window, even when playing back. But if I can't see the chat and interact, the iPad won't work either.

Hi Chip,

Due to an issue we’re having on our end, the char feature isn’t working reliably in iOS. Please accept our apologies.
